September – December 2012

Initial meetings held with the late Jack Fulton Esq., former Chairman of Castleford Tigers to discuss a new Community Stadium.

November 2012

Holywell Farm identified as a suitable development opportunity – an idea is born for Five Towns Park (subsequently Axiom).

July 2013 – July 2014

Preparation of planning submission documents with over-arching advice from leading planning QC, Christopher Katkowsi.

April – September 2014

Substantial public engagement and consultation pre submission of the planning application including 9-day consultation bus tour. Over 4,000 people sign the bus in support of the development.

July 2014

Outline planning application submitted.

July – September 2014

6,761 individual letters of support sent to Wakefield MDC. Support given by prominent Yorkshire politicians, community leaders and organisations including; Yvette Cooper MP, Alec Shelbrooke MP, Stuart Andrew MP, Sir Gary Verity and The Coalfields Regeneration Trust.

February – September 2015

Application unanimously approved by Wakefield MDC Planning Committee, Secretary of State for DCLG confirms he does not wish to ‘call-in’ the application, Planning Permission issued and Judicial Review period expires without challenge.

June 2015 – December 2016

Public rights of way diversion application approved by Wakefield MDC and implementation works carried out, site investigations including circa 150 boreholes completed and archaeological investigations completed and signed off.

December 2015 – January 2017

Additional planning applications submitted in response to changing retail markets. Applications approved by Wakefield MDC, confirmation of no ‘call–in’, permissions issued and no legal challenges.

January – October 2017

Discharge of all pre-commencement planning conditions and approval of Reserved Matters applications governing off-site highways works and on-site infrastructure.

June 2014 – December 2017

‘Anchor’ pre-lettings signed with Next, Primark, M&S and Boots.

May 2017 – February 2018

Major 33Kva overhead power line diverted underground with associated drainage and site levelling works.

November 2017

Freehold of site acquired.

Q2/Q3 2018 – Q3/Q4 2019

Highways and infrastructure works.

Q3/Q4 2019 – Q1 2021

Stadium construction and handover ready for 2021 Super League season.

Q3/Q4 2019 – Q3 2021

Retail and country park construction.
